Laguna Presbyterian Church welcomes you during this season of Lent to participate in this network of discussions on LPC’s sermons and the Gospel of Mark as together we set aside 40 days face-to-face with Jesus. This blog may be used as your devotional reading during Lent. Each Monday morning this blog will post the previous Sunday's Scripture reading, along with questions for reflection written by the preaching pastor, there will also be a link to Sunday's sermon Podcast, there may be additional links to articles, books, etc. mentioned in Sunday's sermon.
This blog will serve as a forum to engage in the most important and relevant question[s] of our time, who do you say Jesus is and what does our answer say about how we are called to live? The blog will be moderated by LPC's pastoral staff and comments will be posted once reviewed. Anyone can respond to comments and questions. Comments may be made anonymously as well.
The start date for this blog will be March 9, 2011, Ash Wednesday. Join us in worship and communion at 7pm at Laguna Presbyterian Church. Reverend, Dr. Steve Sweet, Preaching. Families are encouraged to attend this service together (no childcare). Logos students are encouraged to attend the service and will meet in the Youth Center following the worship service.

ReplyDeletereally love it- whoever did this is amazing ;)
ReplyDeleteToday it begins! I'm excited! See you tonight at Ash Wed.
ReplyDeleteAsh Wed opened my eyes to a bigger God than I thought possible -- and a lesser self that I knew lurked within me.
ReplyDelete"This is the air I breathe....your holy presence, living in me....and I'm desperate for you....I'm lost without you..."
ReplyDeleteCheers....community?
ReplyDeleteFB........community?
So now we have this church blog--not exactly community--maybe the closest we can get?
Anyway...good idea, whoever thought of it.
Ash Wed; good sermon. Go, Steve!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments everyone. I agree with the comment, a church blog, is not exactly community, but, it is one way that we can read the Scripture together at the same time through the week, reflect on how the Word is speaking to us individually and as a community of faith, and to take the time to encourage one another in our discipleship. I pray that this blog will deepen the faith of many.
ReplyDeleteI had not thought of God the Father's pronouncement: "This is My Son, listen to Him," as being a message to me (us) as well as to the disciples who were with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration. A new thought, and I'm grateful for it. A prayer for Lent: Lord, help me hear Your voice this season....
ReplyDeleteDoes the blog allow photos to be attached? How?
ReplyDeleteHi John, yes...we can post pictures. You can email them to Beth Pinney and she can post them on the blog! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhen Steve on Sunday mentioned the caves of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland, it reminded me of the time John and I really saw the caves of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
ReplyDeleteWhen our boat went past the big ship we suddenly went off the track and headed for a black wall. Amongst screaming we went through an opening in the wall and landed at an underground dock.
The employees were real surprised to see all of us and asked where did you come from? They had to lead us out the back way and all the way to the front of the line to start over again. - Diane Cullings
