Taste and See

Read:  Psalm 34:8; 1 Peter 2:2-3
Psalm 34:8
O taste and see that the LORD is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.

1 Peter 2:2-3
Like newborn infants,
long for the pure, spiritual milk,
so that by it you may grow into salvation—
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.

"You have made us for yourself, O Lord,
and our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee."
- Augustine, 354-371

Questions for Personal Reflection from Kathy Sizer
How have you noticed an increased spiritual hunger in society or in yourself?
What are some of the ways you try to satisfy the deep hungers of your life?
Are there any of those things that you need to leave behind in order to long for the true spiritual life?
What do you already do to be intentional about feeding your spiritual hunger and thirst?  What one thing would you like to try?

Prayer, Psalm 42:1-6b
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and behold the face of God?
My tears have been my food day and night,
while people say to me continually,
“Where is your God?”

These things I remember, as I pour out my soul:
how I went with the throng,
and led them in procession to the house of God,
with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving,
a multitude keeping festival.
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my God.
